Iceland

At least 3 days (Red Cross)

Non-government figure

3

days

Read thisThis figure comes from a non-government body. We found no government statement giving a number of days.

The three-day figure comes from the Icelandic Red Cross. Civil Protection names that guide on its household page but states no number of its own.

“Mikilvægt er að öll heimili á Íslandi geti komist af í að minnsta kosti þrjá daga í hættuástandi.”

It is important that all homes in Iceland can get by for at least three days in a dangerous situation.

Earliest dated evidence we found: a RÚV programme, with a Red Cross guest, said Iceland plans for people to be able to manage for three days in an emergency. The campaign may be older.
